Windows - how to open and remove them for cleaning

This is the style of double-hung window the builder has installed in our condos.

This is the window in the front bedroom of my condo.
I happen to have two identical double-hung windows side-by-side.
Other condos may have only one double-hung window in the front
bedroom.

This is the right side of the window showing the security lock on
the left and the tilt latch on the right.
There is another identical security lock and tilt latch on the
left side of the window.

The window is locked when both of the security lock handles are
pointed to the left.

To unlock the security lock, use your finger tip to pull the
handle towards you and swivel it around so that it is pointing to
the right.

After you have opened both security locks, place your fingers
beneath the lip at the bottom and pull the window straight up.
In this photo the window has been pulled all the way up and the
lip can be seen pointing toward the camera from the bottom edge
of the glass.

You can clean the lower window pane from inside the house by
using the tilt latch.
To open the tilt latch, place your finger tip on the tab and
slide it away from the stationary frame.
Do the same with the other tilt latch tab and then tilt the top
of the lower window towards you.
The tilt latch is normally held closed by a spring and you have
to hold both latch tabs open with your fingers while you tilt the
window inward.
The window remains connected to the stationary frame at the
bottom.

The tilt latch is shown after I have released the slider tab and
the window has been tilted inward. The spring has pushed the
latch closed.

The window is shown in the tilted position. It is still connected
to the window frame at the bottom.
Do not remove the window from the bottom connectors. Clean the
window while it is tilted inward as shown here.

After cleaning, tilt the window back into its normal position
until both tilt latches are touching the stationary window frame.
When the latches are touching as shown, then push the window back
into place and the latches will automatically snap back into
place
as shown in the next photo (below).

The tilt latch is closed and securely latched when the slider tab
is centered in the slot as shown.
Close the window by firmly pushing the lower window down and then
swinging both security lock handles to the left.
