Raymond John Ruhlman, age 89, of Lenox Township, died Monday evening,July 12, 2010, at home. He was born July 21, 1920, in North Branch, the son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Grobbel) Ruhlman. His marriage of 62 years to Rosemary Beste was January 5, 1946, at St. Clement Catholic Church, Center Line. Rosemary passed away March 18, 2008. Raymond served his country with the United States Army during World War IIin the South Pacific. He was a member of the 836th Engineer Aviation Battalion, Company C, whose motto was ?Anything, Anytime, Anywhere.? The unit built airstrips for fighter planes on islands as the U.S. worked to defeat Japan. He was a parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond and member of the Knights of Columbus. Raymond and Rosemary lived in Warren until 1951 when they bought a dairy farm in New Haven. They also did truck farming and sold vegetables at Eastern Market. For several years they processed, bagged and sold the milk right onthe farm. He was employed by Dodge Truck from 1946-1956, New Haven Foundry from 1956-1986 and was a member of the U.A.W. Surviving are ninedaughters, Therese Stier of Lenox, Marie (Michael) Walsh of Armada, Jean Hagen of Lenox, Irene (Thomas) Langmesser of Smiths Creek, Barbara(Douglas) Grabowski of Lenox, Mary (Wayne) Schultz of Melvin, Susan Given of Emmett, JoAnn (Robert) Vanderbossche of Emmett and Christine Ruhlman of New Haven; son-in-law, Richard Venuk, Richmond; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Andrzejewski and Cecilia Theisen; brothers, Edwin, Leo and David Ruhlman. He was preceded indeath by daughter, Roseanne Venuk; infant sons, Joseph and John Ruhlman; sister, Mary Lou Knocke; son-in-law, Gordon Hagen and great-grandson, Nathaniel Venuk. His family honors the memory of Raymond and invites you to visit and share memories Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, 2-8 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with Thursday rosary devotion services at 7 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m., Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, with 1 p.m. Visiting. Fr. Ron DeHunt, visiting pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Richmond. Memorials are suggested to St. Augustine School or the Disabled American Veterans of Michigan.
