814. Joseph Anthony Fitzgerald
Joseph Anthony Fitzgerald, of Oscoda, Michigan, formerly of Marion, Indiana, passed away on Sunday April 15, 2012 at his home, age 70 years. Joseph was born on August 11, 1941 in Pontiac, Michigan to William Martin and Marion Agnes (nee Schlaud) Fitzgerald. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served as a Medic mainly at the Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland from June 1960 to June 1963. After his service to our country, he began his long time employment at General Motors in Marion, Indiana where he worked as a master Tool and Die Maker, retiring after 34 years. On June 15, 1963 Joseph married his wife Maryanne R. (nee Carellas) in Villa Park, Illinois. Together they celebrated 48 beautiful years of marriage. Those that knew Joseph will always remember how he truly cherished and adored his 9 grandchildren. He also enjoyed to play Euchre, traveling, camping, carpentry, the beauty of the lake, gardening, and what ever his wife plannedor told him to do! Joseph is survived by his wife, Maryanne R. Fitzgerald of Oscoda, children, Joseph P. (Tracy) Fitzgerald of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lisa (Derek) Decker of Marion, Indiana, Julie Wusterbarth of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, David (Anna) Fitzgerald of Atlanta, Georgia,Jennifer Curry of Chicago, Illinois, and Steven Curry of Indianapolis, Indiana; 9 grandchildren, Anthony (Amber), Meagan, Nicholas, Sarah,Jasmine, Bryan, Greer, Noelle, and Leah; brothers and sisters, Gary (Roseann) Fitzgerald of Waterford, Linda (Lyle) Harrison of Watervliet,Michigan, Daniel (Judy) Fitzgerald of Sodus, Michigan, Kim Fitzgerladof Oscoda, Michigan, and Catherine Fitzgerald of Huntington, Indiana;many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marion Fitzgerald, brother, William Fitzgerald, and a sister in law, Lauren Curry. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda. The Rosary will be prayed that evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday April 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda with Father Charles Donajkowskiofficiating. His family will welcome friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral mass. Military honors willtake place at the church as part of the funeral mass. Cremation will take place after the funeral mass and a burial of his cremated remainswill be in the Beautiful Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana at a later date.
