Lt. David E.
Oaksmith, commander of the USS Davenport, is transferred to the
USS Hingham (PF-30) using the Breeches Buoy at 1600 hours on 31
Aug 1945. The Davenport was on duty at Weather Station #2 (60.5°
N, 33.0° W) when the ship's medical officer determined that he
needed to be transported to the US Naval Hospital in Reykjavik,
Iceland for in-patient treatment.
